PORTER
SUSAN A. PORTER died about
1879/80, in Livingston, Alabama, and is buried in the New Prospect
Cemetery, near Livingston, Alabama. She married, first, Newton
Jasper Hamill (see Hamill) who was a
Professor at the Livingston Male Academy and later a dentist and
plantation owner.
They were parents of: Frederick; Anna,
married Jasper Swan; Mary Newton, born April 1868, died 20
November 1905 and married Richard F. Moore; and Robert Greer. (1)
She married, second, about 1871, C. T.
Roan.(1) They were the parents of
John Lawhorn; Forrest; Susan; James Scarborough; and C. T. Roan,
Jr.(1) Susan was the daughter of
FREDERICK PORTER was born on 13
November 1803 and died on 12 October 1857.(4)
He is
buried at New Prospect Cemetery out from Livingston, Alabama. He
married Amelia Talbot (1-2) (see Talbot).
Frederick was a planter and first settled in Henry County,
Alabama, working with his father-in-law. They later moved to
Livingston, Alabama, where he was the owner of a plantation near
Epes.(1)
They were the parents of two daughters:
Susan (see above) married, first, Newton Jasper Harnill, and,
second, C. T. Roan; and Anna Hasseltine married John Lawhorn.
