NANCY
JOHNSON was born on 10 July 1765 and died on 4 September 1825
in Franklin County, Tennessee. (3)
She married Matthew Kuykendall in North Carolina on 11 May 1780.
Matthew was born on 9 February 1758 in North Carolina, and died on
15 August 1841, in Mississippi. They moved from North Carolina to
Tennessee, probably Franklin County. It is believed that all left
Tennessee with Abner, Absolem, James, and John going to Texas.
The

WILLIAM
JOHNSON was born about 1740 in England and died between
January and April 1816
at Christiana, Rutherford County, Tennessee. The will of
William Johnson is dated 19 January 1816 and on file in Rutherford
County, Tennessee.(2) He
married Rebecca Larkin who was probably born in England and also
died at Christiana, but after William's death.
William
Johnson migrated from England to South Carolina prior to 1775. He
later moved to North Carolina and about 1800 moved to Barren
County, Kentucky. Isaac Miller, who had been involved in
"the whiskey rebellion" in western Pennsylvania, moved
to Kentucky about the same time and the two families became close
friends.
In
1804, the Johnsons and Millers moved to Rutherford County,
Tennessee, and settled near what was known as the Indian lines
before the Elk and Deer River Purchase was made. This neighborhood
was long afterwards known as the Miller and Johnson settlement.
William Johnson and Rebecca are both buried in the Old Miller
Cemetery, near Christiana, Rutherford County, Tennessee.
Tradition
says that William Johnson fought in the American Revolution but
the D.A.R. has only accepted his patriot's service-"William
Johnson was paid for a horse lost in public service," Vol.
